IP Man

Every October, the Philippines celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Month, to recognize the country’s rich culture that existed long before colonization and continue to shape our national identity today. This month explores a powerful truth, the future we hope to build is deeply connected to the wisdom, resilience, and traditions of our indigenous people. Indigenous communities across the Philippines, such as the Ifugao, and many others, carry generations of knowledge about living in harmony with nature. Their practices in farming, forest management, and resource use reflect a deep respect for the environment. From the Ifugao Rice Terraces, often called a wonder of the world, to traditional healing and weaving practices, Indigenous culture shows that progress does not always mean modern technology alone, it can also mean preserving balance, sustainability, and community values. As we celebrate National IP Month, we are reminded that cultural diversity is not a barrier to progr...

I went to the Vigan City Fiesta for the Conversion of St. Paul. This Vigan City Fiesta was really something. It made me think that celebrations are not about the things that happen but about the time we spend with other people. The Vigan City Fiesta was at night. It was very bright because of all the carnival lights. I heard people laughing and music playing. I saw families and kids having a lot of fun on the amusement rides at the Vigan City Fiesta. This made me remember that we can be happy when we do things together. The Vigan City Fiesta felt like a break from our lives. It was a time when everyone could just be together and have a time, at the Vigan City Fiesta. As I walked through the food stalls I saw people sitting around tables talking and laughing together and eating street food. People were really enjoying themselves. These little scenes showed what the celebration was really about. The vendors were working hard. Kids were holding colorful balloons. People who did not k...

3rd Quarter Reflection

Image
3rd Quarter Reflection  a. Ive learned a lot of new lessons this quarter. From science discussing about evolution and genome sequencing to Filipino discussing stories like Ang Alaga. b.  The problems I have encountered in the 3rd quarter is a lack of discipline and not understanding some lessons given by my teachers. c. I will address these challenges by hopefully changing the way I study, even if it is small progress and I need to be more attentive, listen and engage more in class. d. Moving on, I will try to become a better version of myself for the next quarter, do better in class, listen attentively to my teachers, do good in quizzes and activities, and hopefully graduate from Grade 10.

Jose Rizal

Image
Jose Rizal, born in 1861 in the Philippines during Spanish colonial rule, is revered as the national hero for his pivotal role in shaping Philippine identity and independence. His greatest contribution lies in awakening national consciousness through his writings and advocacy, which exposed the injustices of colonialism and inspired a generation to fight for freedom. Rizal's multifaceted efforts spanning literature, education, and political activism transformed him into the "face of the Philippines," symbolizing resistance against oppression. Unlike mere revolutionaries, Rizal emphasized reform over violence, using intellect to challenge systemic inequities, ultimately laying the groundwork for the 1896 Philippine Revolution. Rizal's most enduring legacy stems from his novels, Noli Mi Tangere and El Filibusterismo, which vividly depicted the corruption, exploitation, and social decay under Spanish rule. These works, written in Spanish and later transla...

Christmas is a time where families celebrate together, going beyond decorations, gifts, and festivities reminding people that we should treat each other with love, joy and hope. It commemorates the day that Jesus Christ was born symbolizing selfless love and compassion. Christmas is not only about festivities and celebrations, but it's also a time for strengthening ones relationship with God. Another important essence of Christmas is togetherness. Me and my family had lots of fun celebrating Christmas together, reuniting with relatives and even hosting a Christmas party for all to join we also practiced forgiveness and understanding during this season restoring relationships and creating a stronger bond with each other. Christmas became a reminder that time spent with loved ones is more meaningful than material gifts. The season also highlights generosity and kindness. People are inspired to give to the less fortunate through acts of charity, sharing food, or offering help to thos...

The 2025 National Children’s Month Celebration with the theme emphasizes the urgent need to protect children from online sexual abuse and the spread of child exploitation materials. In today’s digital age, the internet provides unlimited opportunities for learning and connection, but it also exposes children to risks that threaten their safety, dignity, and emotional well-being. Over the years, the Philippine government has strengthened efforts to protect children, especially in the digital space. Laws such as the Anti-OSAEC Act, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, and the Anti-Child Pornography Act serve as strong foundations for fighting exploitation. Government agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Justice, and the Philippine National Police work together to investigate cases, rescue victims, and hold offenders accountable. These actions show that the government recognizes the seriou...

President Quirino

Image
President Elpidio Quirino was born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur on November 16, 1890, where he grew up in a family deeply valuing perseverance and discipline. Despite limited means, he worked hard to pursue education, eventually graduating from the University of the Philippines College of Law. His early life taught him the importance of determination that shaped his political career. Quirino’s entry into public service began when he became a lecturer and later a lawyer, but his passion for nation-building pushed him toward politics. He became a member of the Philippine House of Representatives, then a Senator, and later Secretary of Finance and Secretary of the Interior. His political journey was strengthened by his involvement in the 1935 Philippine Constitution, where he played a role as a member of the Constitutional Convention. Through these roles, Quirino gained a deeper understanding of the country's needs, especially as the Philippines moved toward independence. As President, Quiri...
