Ilocos Festival

 Every year, Ilocos Sur comes alive bursting with color, music, and unity during the Ilocos Sur Festival. The word “Intayon” meaning “let us go” in Ilocano, invites everyone to move forward together as one community. It is a celebration that highlights the province’s rich culture, strong traditions, and shared dreams for progress.


One of the most exciting parts of the festival is the street dancing and cultural performances. Participants from different municipalities wear vibrant costumes inspired by local products, history, and folk traditions. The rhythmic beats of drums and gongs fill the streets, creating an atmosphere of joy and pride. Through these performances, the people of Ilocos Sur showcase their creativity and deep connection to their heritage.

The festival is also a reminder of the unity among the towns of the province. From the historic streets of Vigan to the coastal and mountain communities, everyone gathers to celebrate not just their differences but also what brings them together. It strengthens community bonds and promotes tourism, allowing visitors to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Ilocanos.

        A major play into the vulnerability of Filipinos is the countries economic and social structure. A significant portion of the Philippines population particularly on the coastal and rural areas are sectors like agriculture and fisheries. The rapid and sudden environmental shifts such as intense droughts and flooding has led to crop failure, and loss of livelihood leading families into deeper poverty. The predominant reasons for the sudden changes in environment are an effect of both natural and human factors.         Several other factors that worsen the situation is the unsustainable use of land practices, and poorly planned urbanization. First Quarter Resolutions

 Looking back on this first quarter, I struggled a bit with ICT, not paying attention to this class has led to a few setbacks. But the times I do listen to discussions is when I can see that this subject is pretty fun to learn. Listening and concentration is always going to be a key factor in any subject. I will make sure to strive harder and study better this next quarter, listen more attentively, and put more effort into getting better grades.
